School Community Council (SCC)
The Uintah School Community Council meets monthly to discuss important issues pertinent to the success of Uintah students and families. Our topics include: School Success Plans, School LAND Trust fund usage, implementation of the Wellness Policy, community engagement, and other topics of interest to the school community. Parents have a direct role in helping to shape the policies around these issues as well as how the Trustlands monies are spent. For instance, during the 2020-2021 school year, Uintah received over $60,000 in Trustlands funds! The SSC decided to spend the money to help pay for our English Language Development teacher to work with our MLL population along with other students who are struggling and need help. Money was also spent on paraprofessional wages so they could work with small groups of students or one-on-one with those who need extra help and support while we were remote and while we were in-person. Some funds were also spent to purchase hands-on science materials for students to use while remote and while in-person.
For the year 2021-2022, the Uintah SCC decided to use the bulk of our Trustlands funds to continue to pay for our English Language Development teacher so that she can help our students who are learning English as a second language. She will also be working with our students with disabilities and with other students who may need extra support. The remaining money was to be used to help fund paraprofessionals to help with student learning as well as to purchase science or technology supplies for the school.
Uintah’s School Community Council (SCC) consists of parent members and faculty members, including the principal. Participation is encouraged at all meetings by anyone who would like to attend. Membership on the committee is established at the beginning of each year either by election or appointment. This year’s election meeting will take place on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 4:45 p.m. via Zoom. Please see the information below on how to participate via Zoom. To become a Uintah SCC member, you must fill out the Uintah SCC Candidate form located in the resources link on this page and submit that to both Bruce Simpson and Amanda Funai. Membership is for a 2 year term.
