School Community Council (SCC)

The Uintah School Community Council meets monthly to discuss important issues pertinent to the success of Uintah students and families. Our topics include: the School Improvement Plan, School LAND Trust fund usage, implementation of the Wellness Policy, community engagement, and other topics of interest to the school community. Parents have a direct role in helping to shape the policies around these issues as well as how the Trustlands monies are spent. For instance, during the 2025-2026 school year, the Uintah SCC decided to use the bulk of our Trustlands funds to continue to pay for our English Language Development teacher, so that she can help our students who are learning English as a second language. The remaining money was used to help fund paraprofessionals to help with student learning. As a result of this support, several students scored proficient on the WIDA language assessment this year and have moved out of needing services from a specialized teacher. 

For the year 2026-2027, the Uintah SCC decided to use the bulk of our Trustlands funds to continue to pay for our English Language Development teacher, so that she can help our students who are learning English as a second language. The remaining money will be used to help fund paraprofessionals to help with student learning at each grade level as well. 

Uintah’s School Community Council (SCC) consists of parent members and faculty members, including the principal. Attendance is encouraged at all meetings by anyone who would like to attend. Membership on the committee is established at the beginning of each year either by election or appointment. For the 2026-2027 school year we have 4 parent positions open. The principal and vice principal are accepting candidate forms until Friday, September 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.This year’s election, if needed, will take place electronically starting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026 through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Septmenber 9, 2026. To become a Uintah SCC member, you must fill out the Uintah SCC Candidate form located in the resources link on this page and submit that to Bruce Simpson or Laura Cheney by Friday, September 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Membership is for a 2-year term. In case a parent leaves mid-term at the end of the school year during their term, their position will be open for the next year’s election for a 1-year position. If a parent leaves mid-year in any part of their term, the council will appoint a new member for the remainder of the year, and an election for the position will take place for the remaining year of their term at the beginning of the next school year. The first meeting of the year will be on Tue. Sep. 15^th at 4:45 p.m. in room 204 at Uintah.
